I was having problems with this. I have an HTC One with Android version 4.4.2. I was able to download Sync Manager on my computer and my computer saw my phone (I could move files to/from it) but it wouldn't show up in Sync Manager. Here's what I did:

    1. Plug phone into computer
    2. Unlock phone and follow this path: Settings > About > Software information > More > tap "Build number" seven times > your phone will ask you if you want to enable debugging from your computer, accept > your phone should now show up in Sync Manager

This is really doing my head in!! Sync Manager still not recognising phone.

I've debugged phone, and disconnected in every possible combination - Sync Manager is still saying phone not connected - which is weird because this worked once before with a different HTC One (that I lost!)

I've also tried Haksta's suggestion twice and it hasn't worked!

Anyone else got any ideas/solutions? I just want to sync my Outlook calendar to my phone!!!

hello, i had trouble getting sync manager to detect my phone, i re-installed sync manager several times, also updated my drivers and had usb debugging checked, still wasnt able to connect, then finally for me going into settings>more>mobile network sharing>usb network sharing, then highliting internet pass through. i switched off my laptop then restarted with phone still connected and hey presto sync manager was working, hope this helps for someone

i just got my phone yesterday and i was able to use the htc sync manager to transfer all my music from my macbook air running 10.8.4 to the phone.

fast track to today and i cant for the life of me get htc sync manager to work again. ive tried re-installing it, closing it down, etc...

    i am getting this message:

    UNABLE TO CONNECT
HTC sync manager couldn't connect to your phone. To fix this
    problem, try the following:
...make sure your phone is unlocked
...make sure you accept HTC sync manager request to connect.

my phone is indeed unlocked when i try to connect, and, whilst i am getting the USB icon on the SB and the phone charges, i am not getting any request to allow sync manager to connect to it.

i have found very little help on the web so i am guessing its not a widespread problem; and that i might be overlooking something. all i could find was this old thread:

    HTC One Macbook Air 10.8.2

and ive tried the suggestions there to no avail.

i am not only new to htc but to android as well, since ive been using iphones for a long time. please be patient

thanks in advance for the help! [/QUOTE]

Tried to sync my HTC One phone yesterday and it doesn't show my phone as connected. MTP mode came up and only the camera connects. Only happened since I updated Sync Manager. Any ideas would be helpful

The new update did not correct the problems with Sync Manager for me at all. Not only does it flash on and off on my computer for over 5 minutes, but I can not get any work done while this is happening, so have removed the Sync Manager until notified that it works better.

Sad, because it seems like a really good program when it was working, two or three updates ago.

Hopefully this can be fixed. Oh, and only 1 running process for the HTC Sync Manager would be a nice function as well (instead of the 7 that come up at once on my machine)

FYI I've also determined that HTC Sync doesn't play well with ASUS MB Utilities.

    Thanks Zalophus,

update the driver through device manager and restart worked for me.

HTC Sync .. well I can install it and it will connect but every time it gets near 20% backed up it hangs and drops out restarts again and begins the whole failure process all over again on both win vista and win 8. It is the biggest utter load of crap I have ever used. PATHETIC

Tried all of the above, first time I used the backup option on HTC sync Manager, it worked first go, then today I thought I had better do another backup,
    I am using Windows 7
below are the things I have tried or I can not find

    Files is greyed over
Home tab says phone not connected

The three dots on the top right of the home screen do not have settings in there, where do I find settings (I am presuming that form are meaning settings in HTC sync manager? Not the computer

Went to do an update driver thing and it says the best driver is there
Tried what amcguck did, same result (as in no go)
Tried re-installing, no go there either

Tried all of the above, still not recognising my phone I have a HTC One 801s

    Any help greatly appreciated
    Cheers

    Serena
