Hotmail Not Syncing

My wife and I both got new One S phones and tried to set up our Hotmail account but it will not sync our mail on either of our phones. It just says "sync is currentlyexperiencing problems , it will be back shortly ". How can I get this to work? I don't want to have to use a separate app to grab my hotmail.

I just pulled a HTC One out of the box and got this exact same error when attempting to sync hotmail. Add account > Select "Hotmail" > Put in details and it accepts everything and even asks what items I would like to sync. Then you just get a red circle next to each of the items it attempts to sync and you get 'sync is currently experiencing problems, it will be back shortly'. I have 3 co workers using Android and synching hotmail fine.

I have performed a factory reset and also tried using the Microsoft Activesync option which also appeared to work but came back with same error.

My boss gave me this phone to try out, I have given it back to him. If I can't even get hotmail to sync what kind of problems am I going to have down the track ? No thanks. Piece of crap.

Hey mate I have resolved this issue, just needed an update.

Go to Settings > About > Software updates

Download and install latest update and Hotmail will sync.

I use outlook and I get the same result, so I contacted, HTC and tried to fix the issue, however this did not work so the technician said we need to wait for new software update which is being done now, so we wait. This is normal with new operating system, my system is Win 8 and at first was told not Compatible with OS which I did not believe as 99.9% of win 7 programs work with new OS.:

I had the same problem.
Sorted it by deleting the account and set it back up again using the pop3 option, instead of microsoft or hotmail. It needs the pop3 address not h.mail it uses with the other two.
Worked spot on after that.

I recommend that you install the hotmail app. It is really good.
