Question about notifications!

Hi,

I just got HTC One V, it's my first smart phone and I love it so far... However I have a question... When I have a missed call or a text message, it alerts me visually on the first main page so that when I pick up my cell to check it I notice it right away. That's perfect. However, my old phone a Mottorola, had an option that every few minutes there's a little beep sound that tells me that I have a missed call or a text message. That way, when I'm away from the cell phone I can eventually notice from the sound that I have a missed call or new text message. The beep sound automatically notifies me every few minutes (when I have it on ring mode obviously). Does the HTC One V have that option? I can't seem to find it. Is the only way to find out if I have missed calls or unread text messages is to check the phone from time to time? or can I have a automated beep sound that notifies me every few minutes (for example if I go out of the shower, or I have headphones on, or if I'm busy or in another room) that way I'll know it without having to check the phone everytime?

so i suppose there's no way? If I was away from the phone I have to click on it to see if I have a missed call or an unread text message, cause there won't be an automated sound/beep that lets me know?
