I bought my HTC One X on computeruniverse.net (German store) on August'12. After it was delivered to me (Russia) i noticed mentioned hissing noise every time when phone makes any sound (call, music, system sounds) and several seconds after sound stops. I sent it back to the store and they transfered it to HTC Germany service center. After several weeks i received the phone. They said it's fixed but the hissing noise is still here. I unlocked bootloader, tried many different official and custom firmwares but it won't help I don't know what to do now.
In my local service station (not an HTC affiliated service) they said it's hardware problem and they could change a mainboard, but it will cost more than half phone price
    ***Solution*** (maybe)
    Good Morning everybody.
Just to be sure about the hissing sound; is it a high pitched sound like if you quickly plug/unplug your headphones, lasting for about 1 sec. and appearing for about every 15-20 sec.(or less) ?? If yes Iīve had this problem also when being on stock rom. I was reading a lot about hardware issues and was beginning to be a little sad if it meant sending my device to repair.....
In the meantime Iīve been playing around with different roms and it seems like the problem isnīt present when running Orio 4.0.0 so at least the problemīs solved for me. Hope this helps others too...
    Have a nice day

I have a One X and after about 6 months of putting up with the hissing sound i finally had enough. Trying to listen to Riders of the Storm and I just could not hear anything other than the hiss. I'm using the red Beats head phones that came bundled with the phone. Initially, i tried other headphones to make sure it was not the headphones. My girlfriend bought a Desire X and my headphones work without any hiss there what so ever.
So, after reading a bit, someone suggested to kill all the apps running on the phone and this helps about 90%. I can hear the rain in Riders of the Storm!!
All in all that is a pretty average thing to mess up during production (and design). This issue must have come up during quality testing at HTC. Either that, or they have to review their quality processes. If this phone was a car than yes, i would love to hear the engine noise - the more the better, but since it's a phone i don't want to hear the cpu scream.

Apart from this hiss this is by far the best phone i have had/used and i think it's going to take a miracle to get me off in the long run. Just this one thing; the hissing sound.

Did update to Jelly Bean on One X made any difference to this problem? Is hiss noise still present?

Yes, the update did not really help. But I found the culprit. its the damn Equalizer. I have the Equalizer from Smart Android Apps, LLC and some of its settings cause a lot of hissing. The virtualizer in particular. Since i played around with the settings the sound is much better. Sometimes (after have the phone turned on for a week or so) a slight hiss comes back. A restart gets rid of it.

    Hello

I have a One X+. After suffering with the hissing sound while using my phone with headphones, I started searching for an answer. I could not find anything. Until something occured to me.

The solution is very, very simple.

Just disable the Beats thing when you use your headphones.

Yes. As simple as that. You will apparently lose a lot of sound quality, but it is easily fixable by using some equalizing app.

There you go. No more hissing sounds at all.

It is sad that HTC has not found this proble and I have.

Please post in here if it works for you.

    Cheers

    htc head phones Beats problem

The moment any type of sound is played (headphones plugged in) by the phone I get some noise sound from distortion, interference..... who knows. It stops after more or less two seconds after the last sound but is continuous when I play music. The headphones I m using are noise-cancelling but I also tried regular ones and the problem is still there. Both headphones work fine with any other device.

Has anybody experienced similar issues? I would be grateful for any sort of help on this issue.

    Cheers,
    Markus
I am also facing the similar problem but when i connect earphones the headphone with mic icon is showing in the notification area. The audio is not good and bass is missing. When i press the microphone button it is working fine when i release the button it is not working.
