Keep Losing Network and Data Connections

Don't know if anyone else has had this issue in this forum, but I have found several others with same issue in other locations. No one has come up with answer and HTC has been no help.

If I lose my signal, due to location or if I drop off of wi/fi and go to cellular data, it seems that the phone loses the ability to make or receive calls or texts. For example, if I leave a strong signal area and drop to edge service or none, and then return to a good signal location, the phone shows full bars and 4G but if you try to make a call it will not connect or if someone calls in they just go to voice mail. I have to reboot the phone and all is good. This seems to happen several times a day, never any issues with iphone 4s or Galaxy S2.

Here is what I have done and then after the fact HTC sent me an email telling me to do same thing.

    1. Got new sim card.....HTC is convinced that the sim from my iphone was not good.
    2. Exchanged for new phone.
    3. Ran phone without syncing to my google account or any downloads.

Still same issue with losing connection. Most of the time I don't realize it until someone says, hey I have been trying to call you. I reboot phone and, wow, several missed calls and bunches of texts.

Giving HTC or someone until end of my 30 day period and then either going back to iphone or gonna see what the galaxy s3 has to offer.

    Thanks,

Yes I have a similar issue now. The phone will lose carrier for no reason, if I restart phone then I get it back. Mine is international one x.

I know it's just a workaround, but this app might be a quicker way to get your connection back without having to reboot... tended to help when I would have LTE connection issues on Verizon - haven't had to use it with T-Mobile yet.

The only dumb question is the one not asked.

Make sure to include your phone model and carrier in your profile.

I appreciate the information. Its just that we should not have to do that in order to use what is suppose to be the top android phone this week.

Here is what HTC sent to me....

I know how critical (especially with your occupation) it is for your device to stay reliably connected and I will be glad to help out. I notice you are coming from an iPhone to the One X - did you happen to keep the same micro SIM card, or was it swapped out for a new one when you got the One X? If it was not replaced I suggest swapping it out for a new one. The reason for this is that the One X with LTE actually requires a newer generation of SIM card than what you might currently be using.

Ryan, I also suggest powering off the One X and calling AT&T from another line to have your account examined and, if necessary, reprovisioned for their new LTE services. If that does not work I would like to help back up your information and perform a factory data reset on the device. Due to the length of some of the backup steps I have included them as an attachment.

If the issue persists as we test before adding your Google account I suggest swapping the phone out for a replacement, as you could have a device with a malfunctioning cellular radio. While these steps combined should resolve just about any issue I would like to call you should any concern remain. If you would like this please let me know a few time frames you might be available to call, the time zone you live in, and a number I can reach you at - preferably different from your One X, if possible.

AT&T technical support suggested that I should return it and purchase a different brand of phone.

    Come on....

Oh trust me, I know we shouldn't have to.

Is LTE typically the culprit? I.E. does the problem you laid out normally happen when you're using LTE (or rather "losing" LTE...)?

Hey guys, just so you know Ive had my HTC One x for three month on contract, suddenly I woke up one day. All the places where I would usually get reception... theres now none at al.. Went back to my provider which is Three network.. in uk.. Well they gave me a sim replacement, but nothing changes. 4 days later. I booked in for a warranty through my network provider. They said warranty should cover it as its hardware fault. So i think you guys are having the same problem... go to your provider if possible.

Hi, I'm on the uk 3 network and I have exactly the same issue. I've swapped the sim out twice the handset has been away for a repair, still the problem persists.I can be sitting with full signal and without moving and all of a sudden I have nothing. Three have been less than helpful. ie they've never come across this before.I've e-mailed htc and as yet I've heard nothing.

Same problem with my new One X - details posted in One X thread
Periodic loss of 3G & slow to acquire 3G

Also reported by several other owners here

HTC need to step up to the plate on this one, need to form a pressure group and lobby their tec+marketing departments.

Well my One X went on it's holidays to The HTC workshop because of signal drop and 3 days later one of it's bothers came back with a note saying that it couldn't be fixed. So far the new one is working fine.HTC do say that they are unaware of this issue which I find hard to believe.
My advice is don't go through your network supplier go direct to HTC uk helpline number is 01279 206906
