Its very easy...I was facing the same problem. Just tick-mark auto rotate then calibrate your Gyroscope placing the phone over a smooth flat surface. Then restart your phone (MUST). Don't waste your time and valuable data going for factory settings or safe mode. It doesn't work.

    Hope this helps

I also had this problem. I removed BBC news app and did restart. Working again.

    Hi! Everyone...
I´m from Mexico, and I just had the same bug, my sensor-g stopped rotating, I installed Z-device Test, for free from Play Store and when tryed to check Gyroscopy, Gravity or rotation vector, it didn´t worked, so I´d try to search in the whole internet for a solution whithout a good one, lots of forums said "Try to restore factory seettings", This problem appears in my HOX since I restarted. Well, some others said: "Change your phone" or "take it to htc service"... I love this brand, since I had a Sensation last year, but no one in Mexico appears to have the knowledge or technical experience with HTC devices, also, find original or generic accesories is almost imposible... Well, tryin a lot of solutions, i just try to reestart my HOX in safe mode, but I do something wrong (in appareances) but at last I finally could fix this rotation and G-Sensor issue. Try do this, it worked for me:
1.- Turn off your htc one x
2.- Then hold Power Button and Volume up+ for 10 seconds aprox.
3.- You will see that the 3 buttons in the down side of the screen begins to flash
4.- Then, release the power button and just keep hold down the volume up, until the phone boots up fully.
5.- You can see that its more slower than if you only turn on in normal mode, and something in this procedure, makes the internal memory and ram, reboots completely without erase all your data, apps, mails or contacts
6.- then the G-sensor become to work

I´d just do this, I have only 6 days with this phone, and I love it, I´m a HTC fan, but this bug, really turned me crazy for all the day,
I hope, this will be only a bug in the software and HTC will correct it in the next systems upgrades,
I´m not a certified technical or expert enginer, I´m just a HTC user, and I really hope, that this problem not appear anymore in my HOX.
By the way, sorry for my basic english, I hope you gays, understand my way to write it.

If you auto rotate is not working, try to go to: Setting-Display&Gesture-G-Sensor Calibration (at the bottom) then put your phone on the flat area, press calibrate. That's it. It worked for me.

I've had that happen once or twice, once I just went to sleep and it fixed itself, the other time I just restarted my phone and it fixed it.

Hi, My HTC One S not rotating. I have tried all usual settings like G-sensor calibration in normal & safe mode & it calibrates successfully every time. I have tried Z-Device test which results as hardware is OK. Then I tried JAF 78's method & it worked, but when I reboot it the rotation problem is still there & now when I am doing his method, its not working. I have also tried reflashing but no luck. I am using ViperOneS 2.1.0, I've also tried stock ROM but still rotation not working. Plz help me guys...
